Studio Choices for Pre-k and Kindergarten

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Do you often ask yourself or others what should I be teaching pre-kindergarten and kindergarten? Do you wonder what they are capable of or what “projects” you should lead with this age group? Maybe you don’t ask these things, but you are always trying to improve your approach with these classes and want to feel less exhausted and less stressed prepping and planning for them.

Well, this presentation is perfect for you. Margaurita Spear, MAEA’s Early Childhood Division Representative, has put together an overview of how she uses choice studio centers to facilitate student learning in the art classroom in a way that keeps even the youngest artists engaged and meets all learners where they are developmentally, even in a mixed-age group. Learn about studio norms and routines, media options, and the typical skill-range evident in authentic student-generated artwork then integrate these tips into your own art room to witness what wonders your young artists create.
